Advance purchase is required, as tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chance of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. You can do this online or call (831) 466-0206. Please read our Terms and Conditions, Cancellations Policy and FAQ before purchasing.

Who can ride a Segway?
Although riding a Segway is relatively easy, riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. Riders should have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance. For families with children under the age requirements can now join Family Segway Tours with our new segway-like mini's... for children ages 10+.

Are Segways safe for people with disabilities?
All guests must be able to stand for an extended period of time. Check the durations of a tour  before purchasing. Guests  must be able to easily step on and off the Segway without assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without the use of a handrail.

What is a Segway? How does it work?
The Segway Personal Transporter is the first of its kind - a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that monitor your balance 100 times a second and automatically respond to your body's movements. To move forward, the rider simply leans forward. To stop or move backwards, the rider leans back slightly.

How do I learn to ride a Segway?
All guests attend a short training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Riders are trained to safely operate a Segway, make smooth, controlled lean turns, and emergency stops. Before leaving our guide explains our "tour etiquette" policy. All riders are required to wear a helmet while operating a Segway. Guests are welcome to bring their own helmets if they prefer.

How safe is the Segway?
The utmost care and research has gone into ensuring that the Segway is safe. The Segway's balancing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience. The Segway has redundant systems and sophisticated alerts built into its design, and many thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway is safe when used appropriately. It is important that Segway riders understand their responsibility to ride safely. Proper skill level and understanding of the Segway prevents injuries caused by loss of control or misuse.

I am a Santa Cruz local - will I enjoy this tour?
Though you may have seen the sights before, you will still enjoy the unique experience of gliding around Surf City on a Segway and seeing it all from a different perspective.

How long does the tour last?
Check our Tours page for a description of our tours and the available tour days and time. Each tour includes 30 minutes of fun-filled, hands-on instruction as you hone your Segway skills on our training course prior to leaving on a tour. We suggest an extra 30 minutes on the meter in case we run late.

When should I arrive for my tour?
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in. Late arrivals will not be allowed to join a tour that has already started training. Please take traffic into consideration.

Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes. All Segway riders must sign a liability waiver before participating. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.

Do I have to wear a helmet?
Absolutely! It is our policy. All riders are required to wear a helmet for their own safety while riding on a Segway. One will be provided to you free of charge. If you are a local and would prefer to wear your own helmet then please feel free to do so.

What should I wear?
We highly recommend comfortable shoes (no high heels) and layered clothing. Touring next to water is not only beautiful but can be very windy at times unexpectedly. Please be prepared. Don't let getting cold take any joy away from your Segway experience.

What are the Tour Rates?
Prices are on a per person rate and based on the type of tour and duration of the tour chosen. All prices and availability are subject to change without notice. Tour prices or availability of tour is NOT guaranteed until full payment is received and a confirmation is provided.

What is the maximum and minimum number of tour guests?
The maximum guests per tour is normally between 6 to 10. Tours with less than 2 guests are subject to rescheduling. We do not take tours out with one guest.

Can I book larger groups?
Yes. Larger groups require pre-advanced bookings and can be arranged by appointment only. Contact to have one of our representatives assist you.

Can I arrange for a private tour?

Do you offer family/private/corporate/business events?
Yes. We offer all types of Segway games for parties, company picnics, corporate functions, and other special occassions as well as live-events. Visit our Events page for more information, or email for a RFP (request for proposal). For additional inquires or questions call (831) 466-0206.

Can I combine my coupon or gift certificate with another offer?
No. Groupons, Got Daily Deals, Living Social, Zozi, Yelp, Amazon Local, any/all other coupons can not be used with any other offer. Gift certificates are nontransferable or redeemable for cash.

Is parking available?
There is no onsite parking. Meter parking is available for up to 12 hours. Be prepared with quarters. Public parking is available across the street at Depot Park. Be prepared with $1 and $5. All day parking is available for $5 to the right of Depot Park and the soccer field.

Are restrooms available?
We do not have public restrooms onsite. Across the street, Depot park offers public parking as well as public restrooms, outside on the right side of the large terracotta building. There are easily accessible restroom stops along the tour route. If you should need to stop, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

Can I buy food or drinks along the way? What about souvenirs?
Unfortunately, the tour's route leaves very little time for any other stops. Water is available for all tour participates as we know guests tend to smile allot on a Segway. We do visit the wharf at the end of the tour which offers a wonderful array of good restaurants and souvenir shops you can revisit after the tour ends. We are located just blocks from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Wharf.

Do Segways have the ability to store bags, purses?
We have the ability to transport necessary items i.e. cameras, clothing, etc. All other personal belongs should be left at home or kept in your vehicle. Segway Santa Cruz is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
